The Mayor’s Youth Council provided a donation of personal hygiene items to STCH Ministries during the council’s April 11 meeting at UHV Northwest Center, 1604 E. Airline Road.
STCH Ministries is a local nonprofit that provides housing for children and single mothers, as well as counseling, job training and other services.
The students collected the items through donation drives at Victoria East, Victoria West and St. Joseph High Schools.
Also, U.S. Congressman Michael Cloud visited the meeting to give the students a behind-the-scenes perspective of his work as a congressman. Cloud discussed the amount of work that his office receives, the importance of his staff and how he connects with the community when he comes back to his district.
