Whether it’s hosted at the library, at the Community Center or at DeLeon Plaza, the Victoria Public Library’s gingerbread house workshop is a Victoria tradition that has stood the test of time.

“We have residents who brought their children to the event and are now bringing their grandchildren,” said Jessica Berger, assistant director at the Victoria Public Library. “The gingerbread house workshop has grown and evolved over time, and we always adapt to continue the tradition.”

The 31st annual gingerbread house workshop will be hosted 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 11 at DeLeon Plaza using the same drive-thru format that was employed last year. Staff from the Victoria Public Library, the Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Victoria Police Department will provide a gingerbread house kit, hot cocoa mix and other supplies that families can use to celebrate at home.

Traffic will enter at the intersection of Main and Commercial streets, then travel south along Main Street and circle DeLeon Plaza. Streets in the area will be blocked to guide traffic and ensure that attendees use the designated entrance. Residents will not be allowed to line up before the event. Residents may not exit their vehicles.

Kits will be provided while supplies last. The Victoria Public Library will provide updates about supply availability through its Facebook page.
