[ARCHIVED] City of Victoria announces new hires

Assistant City Attorney Ruby Boone and Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation Kimberly Zygmant

The City of Victoria Legal hired Ruby Boone as an assistant city attorney starting Nov. 16. In this role, she will serve as the prosecutor for the City of Victoria Municipal Court and will be the primary legal adviser to several departments, boards and commissions. Prior to her current role, she served as an assistant district attorney for Victoria County District Attorney Constance Filley Johnson. Boone earned her law degree from the Texas Tech University School of Law, where she served as a comment editor for the Estate Planning and Community Property Law Journal, served as a Distinguished Writer for the Texas Bank Lawyer and received the Elma Moreno Pro Bono award for her work as a student attorney, and she earned her bachelor’s degree in criminology from St. Mary’s University.

The City of Victoria Parks & Recreation hired Kimberly Zygmant as its assistant director starting Nov. 16. Zygmant has more than nine years of experience in the field of recreation, including more than seven years of program management, policy writing, budgeting, strategic planning and supervisory experience. Her experience includes working as recreation facility manager with the City of Asheville, N.C., and working as a recreation leader with the City of Ocala, Fla., before being promoted to Discovery Center coordinator/supervisor. Zygmant also is a member of the National Recreation and Park Association and serves as the chair of the organization’s Young Professional Network Fam committee, a specialized professional development team. She also served as the organization’s 2019-2020 state association co-chair for the Young Professional Network. Zygmant earned her bachelor’s degree in recreation and parks management from Appalachian State University.
