[ARCHIVED] Victoria Fire Department swears in new employees, announces promotion

PHOTO #1: The Victoria Fire Department swore in three new employees during a Feb. 18 ceremony at Victoria Fire Department Station Six. Shown from left are Firefighter/EMT Jakob Marshall, Paramedic Crew Leader Rachel Rings and Firefighter/EMT Nicolas Chapa. They will now begin a six-month probationary period, during which they will work and operate as Victoria Fire Department employees while receiving additional hands-on training.

Martyn first joined the fire department in 2005, and he has served as a firefighter/EMT, firefighter/paramedic, paramedic specialist, fire medic, fire lieutenant, EMS captain and fire captain.

Volkmer served the fire department for 39 years before his retirement. He passed away in 2021. Members of his family attended the ceremony and received a commemorative plaque.
