[ARCHIVED] Residents approve all 14 charter amendments

City charter voter guide. Be in the know.

Residents voted to approve all 14 proposed amendments to the City charter during the May 7 joint special election.

The amendments, which were developed by a volunteer committee of residents, can be viewed online at www.victoriatx.gov/charter

Jeff Bauknight“I’d like to thank all of the voters who helped to shape our charter by participating in this election,” said Mayor Jeff Bauknight. “These amendments will allow us to move forward with the assurance that our government structure is operating in a way that aligns with what our residents want to see.”

In addition, Councilman Mark Loffgren was re-elected to City Council for Super District 6.

The City Council will review the election results at their May 17 meeting. Once the results are formally accepted, Councilman Loffgren, Councilman Dr. Andrew Young and Mayor Bauknight will be sworn in for their new terms. Young and Bauknight were both uncontested in the election.
